Ameristar Casino (www.ameristar.com)
Situated on 183 acres seven miles east of downtown Kansas City, Ameristar is one of the country’s 10 largest casinos and showcases nearly $2 million of stained glass beauty. It features eight restaurants, a food court, multiple live entertainment venues, 18 movie theatres, and of course there’s gaming. It may be hard to overlook Ameristar’s glitz and glamour, but when you look behind the scenes, you see one of Kansas City’s leading corporate citizens.
Ameristar supports the community through charitable giving, its Team Member Workplace Giving Campaign, and by encouraging Team member volunteerism. They support the Urban League as a corporate member and the Career Marketplace by providing us with job openings for our registered career seekers.
A career at Ameristar is more than a job, it’s an opportunity to build a solid career. There’s a supportive work environment, healthcare benefits, and a retirement plan. There are opportunities for career growth and development, including tuition reimbursement for college and graduate courses. And Ameristar is committed to promoting from within.
Pfizer Inc. (www.pfizer.com)
Pfizer is a pharmaceutical company that develops, manufacturers and markets human and animal healthcare products. It was founded in 1849 and today employs more than 120,000 people worldwide. Pfizer’s 2005 revenues were $51.3 billion.
You may know some of Pfizer’s breakthrough prescription drugs: Lipitor®, Celebrex®, Zoloft® and Viagra® to name just a few. Their over-the-counter products include household names too: Listerine®, Visine®, Neosporin®, and Benedryl®, again to name just a few. |
While Pfizer’s animal health drugs may not be household names, they are equally as popular and effective with veterinarians, farmers, ranchers, and others who care for animals.
Corporate citizenship at Pfizer is multi-faceted. It means advancing good health, exchanging issues and ideas, protecting the environment, and conducting business responsibly. And Pfizer measures its plans and actions in those areas against the question: “What will our children think?” Of course, locally Pfizer expresses its corporate citizenship by supporting the Urban League and its Career Marketplace program.
While Pfizer’s corporate headquarters are in New York City, their local presence includes a manufacturing facility in Lee’s Summit and pharmaceutical sales reps who typically office out of their homes. Right now, Pfizer has asked us to help them find potential candidates for sales. Please call the Career Marketplace to see if you might qualify.
